Born in 1972 in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Mikhail Bishai’s medical career began early. At just 17 years old, he entered Cairo University Medical School, graduating by the age of 23. His foundational years included a full internship and national military service, where he served as a physician to Egypt’s elite Navy Seals — an experience that honed his resilience, discipline, and commitment to high-stakes care.

Following a year of orthopedic surgical training, Dr. Bishai immigrated to the United States to expand his academic and clinical horizons. He began with a research position at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, setting the stage for a multifaceted American medical career.

Academic and Clinical Leadership in the U.S.

Dr. Bishai entered psychiatry residency training in 2001, diving deep into the complexities of mental health. By 2005, he was appointed Medical Director at Pinnacle Health System in central Pennsylvania, while also serving as faculty at the Penn State Hershey School of Medicine — a role that blended clinical leadership with medical education.

Not one to stop evolving, he pivoted again in 2009, pursuing a Pain Management Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). This specialized training allowed him to unite his psychiatric expertise with interventional pain strategies, bringing a holistic approach to patient care.

A Lasting Commitment in Texas

Since 2010, Dr. Bishai has made his home in The Woodlands, Texas, where he continues to practice and contribute to the community. His global perspective, cross-specialty training, and deep compassion for his patients set him apart as a trusted figure in modern medicine.
